An accomplished legal professional, James Cortopassi brings leadership experience to his role as the Director of Litigation Support and E-Discovery Coordination at New Jersey Legal in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Prior to accepting his current position, Mr. Cortopassi worked at Pope, Bergrin and Verdesco, P.A, for 10 years. During his tenure with the company, Mr. Cortopassi conducted extensive research, prepared hundreds of cases for trial and hearings, and managed the the discovery phase of local and federal cases. Other responsibilities in this role included expungements, trial preparation, and case investigation.
Among Mr. Cortopassi’s most notable achievements at Pope, Bergrin and Verdesco is his work on the Abu Ghraib detainee case. His responsibilities for the trial included organizing motions for change of venue, preparing the case for sentencing by reviewing and analyzing responsive documents, and arranging media scheduling. Mr. Cortopassi later accepted other positions as a student lawyer and Law Clerk before joining New Jersey Legal in his current position.
James Cortopassi honed his research and leadership skills as a law student at Michigan State University. Mr. Cortopassi earned a place on the Dean’s list for three years and received the Certificate of Merit. Mr. Cortopassi held leadership roles with the Trial Advocacy Society, the Italian-American Legal Fellowship, and the Thomas M. Cooley Law School Judicial Board.
James Cortopassi now resides in Manalapan, New Jersey, where he volunteers his time to the community.
